The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) confirmed that the KC-390 Millennium aircraft that took off today (22) to take humanitarian aid to Haiti needed to be replaced. The reason given was a technical issue. According to FAB, the cargo plane made a landing, which was already scheduled, at Serra do Cachimbo Air Base, in southern Pará. Before checking into Haiti, the plane will still make a stopover in Boa Vista.
The new take-off time was moved to tomorrow (23), at 8 am, due to time restrictions for landing in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.
Leaving from Brasília Air Base, the KC-390 took off this morning, carrying around 7 tons of emergency materials and equipment, in addition to 3.5 tons of medicines and strategic supplies from the Ministry of Health. The mission is to help Haiti to ease the problems stemming from the earthquakes that have hit the country since Aug. 14, resulting in more than 2,000 deaths and 10,000 injuries so far.

“A KC-390 Millennium aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) took off this Sunday morning (22), from Brasília (DF) bound for Port-au-Prince, capital of Haiti. The technical landing at Cachimbo Air Base, located in the south of Pará, took place normally and was originally planned on the route. For technical reasons, there was a need to exchange for another aircraft of the same type, carrying out the transposition of cargo and passengers in that location.
The aircraft continues to Boa Vista (RR), still today, as planned. However, the FAB’s take-off to Haiti was rescheduled for 8:00 am (local) on Monday (23) due to restrictions on the availability of landing times in Port-au-Prince”.
