Cold shower for Dan Ticktum. The English driver, who joined Williams in 2020 with the role of development driver and confirmed in the same position also for this season, was fired from the English team with immediate effect.
The British team did not provide any reasons for the decision that came as a bolt from the blue, but most likely the words spoken by Ticktum during a live stream of a Call of Duty match during which it accused Latifi of having arrived in Formula 1 solely because of his heavy suitcase and not because of his talent.
It must be said that Tickutm’s timing was perfect since last weekend the Canadian driver, in his second season in Formula 1, managed to conquer the first championship points by finishing in eighth position (which later became seventh after the disqualification of Vettel ed. ) in front of George Russell.
For Ticktum, this is yet another blow that, in all likelihood, will put an end to his remaining hopes of landing in Formula 1.
Already in 2019 the English driver had been dropped by Red Bull in the middle of the year after a decidedly unconvincing Superformula debut. Ticktum then left the Japanese series after a few races to turn to the Formula Regional with the Van Amersfoort Racing team.
The smug Englishman managed to rebuild a career by landing in Formula 2 last year with the DAMS team, but in his debut season he did not shine, finishing in eleventh position with only one success.
This year Ticktum has decided to face Formula 2 again, but defending the colors of the Carlin team, and currently occupies the fourth position in the standings with 89 points.
