It was not an easy Friday that faced Red Bull at Silverstone. The Milton Keynes team, in fact, saw their work schedule compromised in the morning due to the weather conditions that prevented Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez from trying a timed lap, while in the afternoon, with a dry track, problems emerged. aerodynamic in nature to complicate the situation.
The world champion, author of just 18 laps in FP2, closed with the fourth time in 1’29 ” 149 and a gap of 2 tenths from the reference signed by Carlos Sainz, while Perez, seventh with seventeen laps, suffered a delay of 8 tenths from the Spanish Ferrari.
Woe, however, to give up Red Bull. The RB18 seen on the track at Silverstone, and deeply modified, will be a thorn in the side for Ferrari and even Verstappen, despite the awareness of having lived a day full of unforeseen events, did not seem dejected once he reached the microphones of the media.
“It’s always a bit tricky when you haven’t driven in FP1. You arrive in FP2 and take a little guesswork, while in Formula 1 you usually build everything session after session ”.
“Not shooting in FP1 in some cases does not affect the work, while in others it compromises it. Today it was compromised, but in the end it didn’t go too bad either. We are still there even if there are some aspects to be reviewed also as regards the tires ”.
Max did not want to go into details and did not explain what went wrong on the RB18, but he said he was confident that the men of his team will be able to find the key to the problem.
“I think we know what to work on and that’s what the team will focus on tonight, but tomorrow the weather brings rain and we will have different conditions again.”

Unlike Red Bull, Ferrari immediately seemed at ease on the splendid English track with Sainz setting the best time of the day. Even in this case, Max was not surprised by the performance of the F1-75.
“Ferraris are always fast every weekend, it’s no surprise”.
The one who unbuttoned the most about the problems he had on the track today was Sergio Perez. The Mexican admitted that there was no correlation of data between the simulator and what was seen on the track and indicated unspecified problems of an aerodynamic nature.
“It was a very difficult day, not what we expected. The car is very different from the one we had prepared in the simulator. We have some aerodynamic problems that we hope to be able to solve tonight ”.
“We have an idea, there are some suspicions related to aerodynamics, but obviously I can’t go into too much detail.”
Perez, as well as Verstappen, was not surprised by the performance provided by Ferrari and is confident that Red Bull will be able to battle with the cars of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz tomorrow.
“Ferrari looked strong, but nothing special. I hope that tomorrow in qualifying we will be able to be at their level ”.
