As we had anticipated on Motorsport.com, the program of the Sao Paulo GP will have no repercussions for the delay with which the material embarked on two freighters that arrived in Brazil late due to bad weather that forced them to stop in Miami.
But to allow the teams that have not had the opportunity to prepare the cars for the single free practice session, the FIA has decided to cancel the curfew planned for the night to allow the mechanics to work freely on the cars.
Not only that, but in light of the transport problems that have affected Ferrari, McLaren, Haas and Alfa Romeo, the International Federation has also granted a 15-hour delay to the teams to carry out the sporting and technical checks.
In a document of the Stewards of the Brazilian GP reads: “In accordance with Article 25.2 of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, the Stewards hereby warn all Competitors of the Brazilian Grand Prix 2021 that the time limit for going to the verification referred to in Article 25.1 has been reduced to 3 hours before the start of P1.
The delays were particularly affected by Ferrari and McLaren: the Maranello team was able to admit the SF21s in the garage only at 12, making the entire work plan that had been codified slip. Even the Alfa Romeo box, which was partially set up, was seen to be delivered by large trucks that collided with Interlagos after they had loaded at the airport of São Paulo. just like Haas did too.
