The 2022 Formula 1 World Championship seems far away but, in truth, it is now just around the corner. This morning Aston Martin Racing announced the date on which it will unveil its new single-seater, the AMR22.
The Silverstone team, orphan of Otmar Szafnauer – about to switch to Alpine to take the place of Marcin Budkowski – will drop the veils from their weapon on Thursday 10 February, with the ceremony that will take place in the headquarters of the British manufacturer, in Gaydon.
This must in fact be considered the first date linked to the 2022 presentations of the Formula 1 single-seaters, because until now only Ferrari has announced an indicative period in which it will unveil its car.
It will be possible to see the new red one a week after Aston Martin, on one of the days ranging from 16 to 18 February. The Maranello team, however, has not yet dissolved its reservations on the precise date.
The shapes of the AMR22 will thus be visible a couple of weeks before the first winter test session, scheduled on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track, at Montmelo, from 23 to 25 February.
The second test session, on the other hand, will be staged on the Sakhir track, in Bahrain, from 10 to 12 March. This is the same circuit where the 2022 World Cup will start on March 20.
On the other hand, the couple of British team drivers remain unchanged, with Sebastian Vettel still the team’s spearhead and Lance Stroll growing alongside the 4-time world champion ex-BMW driver, Toro Rosso, Red Bull and Ferrari.
