Mercedes does not give up on the idea that the W13 cannot fight for a GP victory this season: at the Paul Ricard the Star has announced that it will bring a series of important changes, but difficult to observe, suggesting that they will concern the part. bottom of the bottom, main downforce generator.
For now we are satisfied with having seen the news concerning the nose and the front wing. The small horizontal air intake at the tip of the nose that serves to bring air into the passenger compartment has now become vertical, showing a slightly different design.
For the Castellet, a circuit that requires an average aerodynamic load, a different front wing was also approved in the main profile: in the lower part the excavation towards the central area is greater with the clear intention of significantly reducing the drag. The second element also shows a more visible blowing thanks also to the anchorage to the nose which has now been slightly raised.

These are almost imperceptible changes to the eye, which however identify the incessant work in aerodynamic development carried out by the engineers directed by Elliott: after having found the way to control porpoising, the phenomenon that polarized the technicians in the first part of the season to avoid the annoying hopping, the Brackley team did not hesitate to work in search of performance, registering constant growth in the last few races.
The characteristics of the Paul Ricard should be favorable to the silver arrow, having a flat coat: Toto Wolff has made no secret that he expects to evaluate the actual potential of the Mercedes on the French track.
