McLaren continues its two-day test at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari. Yesterday Oscar Piastri was in action, while today it was the turn of Ryo Hirakawa, the third driver of the Enstone team, who were the protagonists of a training program.
The Japanese is on track with the MCL36, the single-seater from two years ago, and is carrying forward the plan that Toyota had prepared for him: the driver from Kure, the city near Hiroshima, is the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022 and together with Sebastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley he won two editions of the WEC (2022 and 2023) with the Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010 Hybrid.

Hirakawa has joined McLaren's Driver Development and continues training to be a full-fledged third driver. The example of Ollie Bearman called to replace Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari in Jeddah due to the Spaniard's attack of appendicitis advises the teams to prepare a reserve that is ready in case of a call.

Rio is in its fourth test with McLaren: in Imola it should complete a distance of 350 km, i.e. more than a Grand Prix, continuing the path towards an FP1 session in one of the next races (Suzuka?) where it will have the opportunity to discover the MCL38.
