Ferrari tests the modified surface at Suzuka: the solution feeds some hope of making a good impression in Japan, a track that on paper is more suited to the characteristics of the Red Bull RB18.
The new solution can be easily recognized externally in one aspect: the stiffening rod is now shorter because the anchoring point on the bottom has changed. No longer at the end of the sidewalk, but has been moved to the extractor ramp.
The Cavallino technicians worked on the flexibility of the materials and by observing the arrangement of the fibers it can be seen that, with the same design, different values of stiffness of the bottom can be found.
Obviously this is the first image that we are able to show you of the novelty tested by Carlos Sainz at Fiorano in the “demo test” of just 15 km carried out before Singapore and we think that there are other interventions on the bottom of the red.

The update was already available last weekend in Marina Bay, but the Gestione Sportiva technicians had thought that the characteristics of the city track would not have given a great advantage so they preferred that the debut on the track would take place on a very convincing track like that. by Suzuka.
The update will be compared tomorrow in free practice by the two drivers and only after the response of the track will it be decided whether to use the solution in the race or not: the responses on the home track were positive, so it is reasonable to believe that the revised fund could be the useful item in Japan.
