Ferrari finally showed off the unloaded wing. It was supposed to make its debut in Miami, but ultimately remained in the Prancing Horse garage, although it was shipped to Florida, because the engineers preferred an aerodynamic configuration that offered the riders more confidence in the rear.
And, then, what should have been the weapon in the US has turned into a mysterious solution that was seen only for a few laps on the F1-75 driven by Charles Leclerc who had made the filming day in Monza, in the very armored Brianza track that it had been made off limit to almost all prying eyes.
Here is the heaviest rear wing used in the morning in Baku on the Ferrari F1-75s
Both in Spain and in Monaco, on high-load tracks, the wing in question was obviously not seen and aroused some curiosity when Ferrari took part in the first free practice session with a solution that certainly was not unloaded and that was it was already seen in Jeddah as in Imola.
The Scuderia allowed the drivers to become familiar with the treacherous Azerbaijani track with a configuration that gave them full safety and only in the second round was the infamous light wing mounted. The results were seen immediately with Charles Leclerc who was the fastest of all in the flying lap, putting the red in front with the two Red Bulls in pursuit.

The new rear wing is easily recognizable by its main profile which is three-fifths flat and shows a slight spoon shape in the remaining side portions, to further reduce drag near the side panels.
The mobile flap follows the trend of the main profile on the sides, and is straight in the center with a rather important chord in order to guarantee the necessary grip in the first two sections of the Azerbaijani track, while it discharges completely when the mobile flap opens. Compared to the morning session, the redhead has made an important qualitative leap in top speeds, but the F1-75 still pays a gap of 11 km / h against Red Bull when the RB18 manages to travel with the moving wing open.

And that will be the aspect on which the engineers from Maranello will have to work during the night so as not to make the redhead vulnerable to attacks at the end of the straight. It will be a very tactical match, in which the choices that will be carried out by the technical staff will count a lot …
