Norman was one of the first hires completed by Liberty Media after the group acquired Formula 1 in 2017. In June of the same year she was appointed to the role of top marketing and then began working in August bringing back to the ‘then CEO of commercial operations Sean Bratches.
Before entering the world of Formula 1 Ellie Norman had worked as communications manager at Honda Motor Europe and Virgin Media where she was head of advertising and head of sponsorship.
The commercial and marketing department of Formula 1 has undergone several changes since Liberty Media took over. Bratches resigned at the beginning of 2020, while the head of digital and licensing, Frank Arthofer, left in January 2021.
To date, the name of the person who will take Ellie Norman’s place in the vacant role has not been announced.
Stefano Domenicali wished to thank Norman underlining the great work accomplished in recent years.
“Over the past five seasons, under Ellie’s leadership, we have rebranded F1 and modernized her approach to fan engagement which has led to strong growth of our fanbase around the world.”
“During this time F1 has become a global brand on social media, digital content, built a strong direct-to-consumer acquisition business through F1 TV subscriptions, built a fan database and relationship management program with customers to provide a single view of the customer and focus on the “value of a fan”.
“I want to thank Ellie for everything she has done and wish her all the best as she begins the next exciting chapter of her career.”
Norman, in thanking Stefano Domenicali and his predecessor Chase Carey for their support, has not yet confirmed what her future plans will be.
“I have completed what I set out to do in F1, and it is time to commit to my next challenge. It has been an honor and a great privilege to have been part of the team that transformed this unique and world-class sport into the modern company of sports and entertainment that it is today “.
“I enjoyed the challenge of building the team and this business from scratch.”
