Enrico Cardile is in Aston Martin’s sights. The indiscretion comes as a surprise, but the news fits well with the objectives of the British team, which has long been involved in a program to strengthen the technical staff.
The current head of Ferrari’s “Chassis and Aerodynamics” departments is a figure who has progressively emerged since 2016, when he began his career in Maranello Sports Management after an experience in the Gran Turismo program.
In nine years Cardile has climbed many positions within GES, up to his current position which places him at the top of the technical pyramid. The work carried out brought him to the attention of opposing teams, and the growth of the SF-24 project credited him as one of the leading technical directors in the F.1 panorama.
Hence the interest of Aston Martin, which can bring an attractive technical management role to the table in a rapidly growing context thanks to the investments launched by Lawrence Stroll in recent years to strengthen the Silverstone structure.
The Newey affair could also fit into this scenario. The rumors about the possible arrival of the former Red Bull technical director in Maranello could push Cardile (with Ferrari for 19 years) to find space elsewhere.
From what has emerged in recent weeks, Newey is only considering a role as a super consultant (as has been the case in recent years at Red Bull) but his presence in the technical organization chart of a team would inevitably end up overshadowing the other figures. At the moment they are hypotheses, but they fit into a puzzle in which the various pieces fall into place in a sensible way.
