The world of Italian journalism is in mourning today. News has arrived of the passing of Enzo Stinchellihistoric collaborator of Rai, highly esteemed and appreciated by many colleagues in decades of collaboration with the public network.
The historic Rai journalist passed away at the age of 96 in his home in San Gemini. With his biting and ironic style, Stinchelli had found great appreciation among the conducting public News at oneone of the first talk shows television which achieved excellent ratings success. His funeral will be held today, Saturday 5 October, in San Gemini.
During its long careerwas the protagonist of very important interviews with national entertainment icons. Over the years, the journalist has had the opportunity to interview legends such as Alberto Sordi, Vittorio Gassman, Monica Vitti, Massimo Troisi, but also prominent politicians and athletes. As a sports reporter, Stinchelli was present at the 1972 Munich Olympics, which went down in history due to the tragic terrorist attack by the ‘Black September’ organisation.
The Umbrian Press Association wanted to pay homage to the journalist with a message of condolence published yesterday, 4 October 2024: “The Association expresses its pain for the loss of Enzo Stinchelli, a beloved and esteemed professional who left an indelible mark in history of Rai and Italian journalism”.
Stinchelli was considered by many colleagues and collaborators to be a reference point for generations of professionals. His was a way of doing journalism that is now being lost. Professionalism, intelligence, acuity and “that right dose of lightness”, as we read in the words of the Umbrian Press Association, were fundamental to involve without ever falling into banality. Thanks to his professionalism, Stinchelli gave the opportunity to get to know and delve deeper into the characters interviewed and talked about”.
Enzo Stinchelli, originally from Narni, worked for Rai for almost forty yearsleaving a legacy that will continue to inspire countless journalists and all those who knew him, young and old in the world of journalism.
