The first, historic, season of the Extreme E championship ended with the most anticipated duel: the one between the teams of Nico Rosberg (RXR) And Lewis Hamilton (X44) in the cold and muddy setting of the British Jurassic X-Prix. As had happened between the two former Mercedes teammates at the last GP of the F1 2016 World Championship in Abu Dhabi, Rosberg needed only one place to be champion, while Hamilton’s team had to win and hope. The pair representing the seven-time world champion’s team – made up of Sebastian Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez – did everything in their power to keep the contest open.
The two dominated the ‘Jurassic’ round by setting the best time in qualifying, winning the semifinal – complete with 5 bonus points for the best time in the Super Sector – and also winning the very final. The great effort made, however, was in vain. Rosberg’s duo – Johan Kristoffersson and Molly Taylor – has in fact kept the head of the general ranking, hitting the title. With the final fourth place earned in the final, the two pairs of drivers reached equal points in the ranking. However, Rosberg’s team triumphed for the highest number of Rounds won, three, against the only one won by Team Hamilton.

Third place in the championship for the team of another former Formula 1 champion, Jenson Button. The Englishman only drove in the first round of the season, then leaving his place to Kevin Hansen who then joined Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky for the rest of the season.
