Expo 2020 Dubai will host the World Chess Championship of the International Chess Federation from next Wednesday until December 16. In the game, among them is the current world champion Magnus Carlsen, who was ranked “Great Professor” at the age of 13 and has continued to top the world rankings since 2011.
Also participating is Yan Nepomniachi, the two-time Russian champion, who won second place in the World Chess Grand Prix Championship in 2019, which qualified him for nomination. The world championship is divided into 14 classic matches in which players compete for a prize of two million euros.
The matches are expected to be held at the Dubai Exhibition Center at Expo 2020 Dubai, while a series of side events will be organized, including exhibition matches and the participation of former champions and celebrities, and Expo 2020 Dubai will host the World Schools Chess Championship from 25 to 29 November, with the participation of 108 young chess players from 10 countries divided into 12 teams.
