If the traffic light coalition (SPD, Greens, FDP) becomes the ruling force in the new government of Germany, then Russian-German relations may fall into crisis, experts interviewed by Izvestia say.
“It will be an interesting government. This is a completely different generation, mainly people who do not remember the Cold War and even the unification of Germany well. They will proceed from Western ideas, which will become a certain danger for the preservation of the dialogue between Germany and the Russian Federation, ”said the German political scientist Alexander Rahr.
According to some estimates, the dialogue of representatives of the “traffic light” coalition, which began at the end of September, has already dispelled the intrigue. The German media recently even appeared allegedly a secret list of the new cabinet of ministers. According to him, the head of the SPD, Olaf Scholz, will become the new chancellor, the leader of the Greens, Annalena Berbock, will take the post of foreign minister, and the head of the Free Democrats, Christian Lindner, will head the finance ministry.
According to Alexander Rahr, the West admired itself so much that it stopped understanding China, the Russian Federation and even the United States, so it will be difficult for the new German government to respond to the threats facing Germany today.
In turn, the coming of Annalena Berbock to the post of Foreign Minister in the new government adds additional intrigue in the context of Russian-German relations, Alexander Kamkin, a leading researcher at the Center for German Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Izvestia.
Note on past negotiations between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP, it became obvious that the Green politician, unlike Olaf Scholz, is not ready for continuity in relation to Russia and China. It was Berbock who repeatedly opposed the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project, so it remains to be seen how the pipeline certification procedure will take place under her leadership.
