The prosecutor’s office asks the Moscow garrison military court to sentence the defendants in the criminal case of robbery with the participation of former employees of the special forces “Alpha” and “Vympel” of the FSB of Russia to terms of eight to 12 years in a maximum security colony and fine them. The prosecutor asks Alexander Karelin and Dmitry Kapyshkin to be sentenced to eight years in prison and fines of 100 thousand rubles and 200 thousand rubles, respectively, depriving them of the military ranks of major and reserve captain.

The prosecutor asks to recover from the accused in solidarity in favor of the victim a little more than 97 million rubles and to turn, within the framework of the civil suit he has filed, almost 15 million rubles seized from the accused. The verdict will be delivered no later than November.
In July, a court in Moscow sentenced to nine years in prison the first defendant in a robbery case involving ex-FSB officers, a former employee of the prosecutor’s office, Konstantin Zharov. In the summer of 2019, a military court for a month arrested five FSB officers suspected of creating a criminal community and organizing robberies. The defendants are suspected of committing crimes under Art. 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery”) and Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery”).
It is assumed that they staged a search in a credit organization using forged documents. According to the materials of the case, the accused, under the guise of carrying out operational measures on the territory of the Metallurg bank, attacked businessman Alexander Yumatov. At least 136 million rubles were stolen from him.
The arrested officers of the FSB special forces will be checked for involvement in the loss of part of the money seized from the ex-colonel of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Dmitry Zakharchenko.
According to the investigation, the robbery was carried out by a group of at least 10 people. Some of the defendants fled to the Caucasus, their final number has not been established.
