Austria’s ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz wants to withdraw from politics soon after matching media reports.
Vienna – Austria’s ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz wants to withdraw from politics soon after matching media reports. The last reason for this step was the birth of his son, wrote the “Kronen Zeitung” (Thursday). Interior Minister Karl Nehammer should take over his current role as head of the conservative ÖVP. Kurz announced a personal statement for 11.30 a.m.
The economic and corruption prosecutor’s office is investigating the 35-year-old on suspicion of false testimony in the Ibiza investigative committee and on suspicion of breach of trust. Kurz and his political comrades-in-arms are said to have promoted his rise to the top of government with the help of taxpayers’ money, among other things. (dpa)
