Evo Morales, former president of Bolivia, denounced that his cell phone had been stolen at a public event that his political party held over the weekend and in which the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo del Castillo.
“The theft of my cell phone occurred in an act that had the presence of the Minister of Government and his security. First time something similar has happened to us in all these years of political activity. We would not want to think that it is part of a planned attack to harm us”Morales wrote on his Twitter account.
And he added: “we have nothing to hidebut we will report any attempt to use frame-ups or misrepresentations against us.”

The mysterious disappearance of the former president’s phone occurred on Sunday in Santa Cruz de la Sierrawhere Morales was surrounded by militants of his party Movement Towards Socialism (MAS).
Juanito Angulo, deputy of MAS, when asked about the robbery said: “It is a cell phone of an important leader, a historical leader such as our brother Evo Morales, a former president who has given a lot for the country. Of course he has important information on political issues. We cannot say that he has information on drug trafficking.”
The alleged robbery led to countless complaints about the police deployment to clear up the case and find the team.
One of them was the deputy of the Citizen Community party, Alejandro Reyes, stating that “it was not necessary to mobilize intelligence, to the police for personal negligence. We will have to ask him what information he would have on that cell phone so that we have to mobilize the entire national security apparatus to look for a phone.

Some analysts predict that the internal fights of the MAS, Morales’ party and President Luis Arce will continue, especially between both leaders, with the purpose of defining the name of the candidate for the 2025 elections, the year in which the South American country celebrates 200 years of existence.
