Inhabitants were practically exterminated, hundreds of bodies were found during excavations by volunteers of the “Voennoe Vremya” search group. “A woman is lying, she has a one-year-old child in her arms, and she was covering her legs 5-6 years old,” volunteer Andrei Akulov told reporters.
People were thrown into a clay pit and covered up. Due to the peculiarities of the soil, the bodies were well preserved. Among the remains with traces of bullet wounds there are also fragments of grenades: people in the quarry were finished off with them.
Wells, silos and stoves of the plant became places of executions of civilians, volunteer Andrei Zhdnov adds. So, the Nazis used the surviving stove built in 1942 to burn the bodies of the Red Army prisoners.
People were executed day and night: a car with people came, they got out and the executions began. For six months Salsk turned into ruins, and thousands of people were shot.
The German military led the process and gave orders. They were performed by a punitive team formed from those who deliberately went against the Motherland.
“It was the EK-12 team – a Caucasian company, which gathered all the traitors, people who betrayed their homeland, their people, only they could go against their people and carry out the orders of the Nazis,” the head of the Mius Front search association told reporters »Andrey Kudryakov.
The declassified documents with the interrogations of the invaders helped to understand where the volunteers should begin excavations. To date, about 50 body fragments have been found, but there will be hundreds of times more of them.
On the territory of the Salsk brick factory there are about 30 shooting pits and about 3,000 killed. All this confirms the fact of the genocide of the population of the USSR.
Reportedly, a genetic examination of the remains will be carried out, experts will try to find the living relatives of the executed.
