Walter Monteverde had been evicted last March, along with his family, and was desperately looking for accommodation
A story that had caused a lot of uproar in Macerata in recent months and which unfortunately, in recent days, ended with the worst of epilogues. Walter Monteverde, a 52-year-old former truck driver, evicted from his home along with his daughter and wife, unfortunately died following a bad illness. He had been living in a camper since March.
The problems of the Monteverde family began in early 2022. La job loss and the discovery of being gravely sickwere followed by the executive eviction from the family home.
The first to help Walter, his wife and their daughter, were the social services of the municipality of Pollenza. Despite his best efforts, the man was unable to find another home to live in.
Because of the total absence of economic guaranteesall the real estate agencies in the area had not been able to find a solution for the family in need.
Then Walter had asked for help from a lawyer and, together with him, she was looking for one decent accommodation for himself, for his wife and for his daughter.
The latter, waiting for something to materialize, had found hospitality in some people’s homes family members. While Walter, increasingly desperate, began to live in his camperparked near the covered parking of the Sferisterio of Macerata.
The death of Walter Monteverde
Unfortunately, before Walter could get back on his feet and secure accommodation for his family, he found his death.
In recent days the disease had worsened and it had been necessary for him to be admitted to the Torrette hospital, where he died shortly after his arrival.
Many in the area have criticized the institutions and the not short time frames with which they were trying to resolve the Monteverde situation. About, Mauro Romolimayor of Pollenza, said:
We learned of the situation last May, when it was time for the executive eviction. We heard from them until the beginning of August to get updates on the conditions of the 52-year-old’s partner and his daughter. The towns of Pollenza and Macerata have done everything for Monteverde. We never lost contact.
