Preparations are underway for the 2024 edition of the Vespa World Days, the Vespa gathering which will be held for the first time in Pontedera, exactly where the most famous scooter in the world was conceived in 1946. The appointment is set from April 18th to April 21st, for a four-day event that promises sparks. This year's edition promises to be one of the grandest in 70 years of history, starting from the first time in 1954 in Paris: enthusiasts arriving representing thousands of Vespa Clubs (660 from Italy alone) from countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan, USA, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Pakistan, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kuwait, Morocco as well as from all the nations of Europe.
A 10 km long procession
The eight thousand seats available for the parade on Saturday 20 April, always the most spectacular event that will pass through the most beautiful locations in Valdera, were quickly sold out. However, a large snake over 10 kilometers long is announced “because – explains Piaggio – thousands more will be added to the officially registered Vespas, already on their way to Tuscany”.
140 years of Piaggio
But that is not all. On the occasion of the Vespa World Days, the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera celebrates 140 years of Piaggio (the company was founded in 188) with the great exhibition 'Vespa all over the World' which, with original materials from the Piaggio historical archive, tells the spread of the Vespa throughout the world, retracing the history of its first and early internationalisation, between the end of the 40s and the 60s. Through the reconstruction of an imaginary and global assembly line and thanks to the generosity of collectors who have made very rare original models available, produced and set up all over the world, the exhibition tells the story of the thousand roads traveled by the Vespa, which was soon built, assembled and sold on all continents, decades ahead of the concepts of globalization.
