Segment has estimated consumption of BRL 66 billion in the first 7 months of the year, according to research by Abrape
The events sector presented the best result of the last 5 years and surpassed the post-pandemic period. According to research by hug (Brazilian Association of Event Promoters), the segment had an estimate of BRL 66,589.95 billion in the first 7 months of 2023.
The data presented by the entity are included in the Economic Radar, carried out based on a survey by the Ministry of Labor and the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).
Still according to the survey, the estimate of consumption in the sector in July alone reached R$ 9.7 billion. This was the best month in the historical series since the beginning of the indicator in 2019.
The forecast for the first 7 months of the year is 14.1% above what was expected for the same period of 2022: BRL 58.3 billion.
For Doreni Caramori Júnior, president of Abrape, the indicators demonstrate the importance of Perse (Emergency Program for the Resumption of the Events Sector), created to provide security and protection to the culture, tourism and entertainment segment affected by the coronavirus pandemic –which entered into effective in May 2021.
“The survey allowed for a quick recovery of the sector after the long period of stoppage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. It offered legal, tax and economic security so that we could once again generate jobs and move the economy across the country”declared Doreni Caramori Junior.
