The success of “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” on Netflix is undoubted. In 10 chapters, the producer Ryan Murphy explores the stormy life of the murderer who put a country on edge. As expected, the creator of “American Horror Story” summoned Evan Peters, one of his favorite actorsto be part of this series.
With streaming users impressed by Peters’ performance, on social media, netizens are asking that attention not be diverted from the casenor the end of production, just talking about the actor’s appearance as the strong point of this production.
In a special shared by Netflix, Evan Peters explained the work behind bringing Jeffrey Dahmer to life and how it was important to respect the victims and their families.
“I was very scared because of all the things that he (Dahmer) did. Diving into that and trying to commit to the character was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, because I wanted it to be very authentic and I knew it would take me to very dark places,” he shared.
“After Ryan gave me the script and analyzed what was going to come, I knew right away that it was important to be respectful of the victims and their families. We must try to understand this story in the most authentic way and not forget the background,” he said.
In the conversation, Peters recounted how Ryan Murphy explained to him that the narrative of “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” was never going to be about telling the crimes from the killer’s point of view, but from each of his victims.
“This rule was given with the intention of not ‘beautifying’ or ‘romanticizing’ everything that is exposed in the series. There is no need to watch these horrible events over and over again in every single scene,” he commented.
