The 2018 Subaru Forester is getting a facelift for 2022. The beauty operation provides the SUV with a redesigned front end, with new headlights and a new bumper. Subaru stayed away from the rear, even the taillight blocks and the rear bumper were taken over one-on-one. The color palette is expanded with Cascade Green Silica, Brilliant Bronze Metallic and Autumn Green Metallic.
The facelift does introduce a lot of new technology. The Japanese manufacturer calls the Subaru Forester safer than ever, a claim they are trying to fulfill with the introduction of the fourth generation of the EyeSight system that adds three new functionalities: Automatic Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering and Lane Departure Prevention. also recognizes dividing lines such as grass or the edge of the road. The area scanned by the EyeSight camera has also doubled. The Pre-Collision Braking System now offers comprehensive support for collision avoidance at intersections.
2-litre of 150 hp
The 2022 model year update of the Subaru Forester also includes an improved Driver Monitoring System, featuring facial recognition technology that warns the driver of fatigue or distraction on the road. The system also automatically remembers the driver’s settings for seat position, door mirror angles and air conditioning preferences. A new feature is the gesture function, which allows the driver to raise and lower the set temperature of the automatic climate control system with hand gestures.
The Subaru Forester still builds on the Japanese carmaker’s SGP architecture and is still offered as a 150 hp e-Boxer, permanently powered on all four wheels by a mild-hybrid 2 liter boxer petrol with 48V support. New for the Forester 2022 facelift is the e-Active Shift Control for the continuously variable Lineartronic transmission that is automatically activated in S mode for a more agile and responsive ride on twisty roads. The steering wheel and chassis are also a bit sharper.
