Euro2020, the richest ever: turnover of 2 billion and 30 million to the winner
With the match Italy-Turkey today 11 June officially begins the European championship 2020. According to what is reported The Corriere della Sera, that of this year will be the richest European ever: in fact the 24 participating teams will be divided 331 million euros. Initially they should have been 371 million but due to the pandemic, the organizers had to make some cuts (they are anyway 30 million more than Euro 2016).
Whoever wins the competition will be given the beauty of 30 million euros while 9.5 million will be guaranteed to each team. Going even further into detail: in the groups a victory is worth one million euros, a tie instead 500 thousand euros. The passage to the second round guarantees 1.5 millioni, to the quarters 2.5 million and to the semifinals 4 million. Finally, there are 5 million for those who will arrive in the final. But it will not be the teams that earn the most. In fact, UEFA expects to achieve a turnover of around 2 billion euros and the goal is to grab a profit of over 850 million euros
