Macron ‘revolt’ of journalists for the press conference without questions
One of the most curious episodes of the week was when the French president, Emmanuel Macron, after the presentation of the semester of the French EU presidency, al European Parliament, decided – for reasons of time – not to accept applications at the final press conference. The reaction of several journalists was not long in coming: they left the room in protest before the start of the conference which was also attended by the President of the Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
France polls: Macron firmly in the lead in the first round of the presidential elections
The outgoing French president, Emmanuel Macron, leads by a large margin in the first round of the presidential elections in France: according to the latest poll, if you voted tomorrow, Macron would have 25% of the voting intentions, ahead of the candidates Valerie Pécresse it’s at Marine Le Pen (15%). In the second round, Macron, who has not yet formally announced his candidacy, would win ahead of each of these two candidates, according to the poll Ipsos-Sopra Steria made for the newspaper Le Monde on a sample of 12,500 voters. Macron would get 54% of the votes in the second round against 46% of Pécressee and 57% against 43% of Marine Le Pen. The other far-right candidate Eric Zemmour, with 13% in the first round, he makes up for part of the delay on the other two. To the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is in the lead in voting intentions with 8%, in front of the ecologist Yannick Jadot (7%), to the former minister of the former socialist president François Hollande, Christiane Taubira (5%) and to the socialist mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.
