This came during the visit of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Rail, to the Sikkum region. For his part, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Rail, praised the efforts of the governments of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah and their unlimited support for the “Etihad Train” project, as it is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country, and a mainstay of the national economy system. His Highness thanked all concerned parties at this important stage of the project, whether local or federal, especially the Ministry of Interior, pointing to the support they provided to facilitate excavation operations, in addition to praising the cooperation of residents in the areas surrounding the “Etihad Train” track, which in turn contributed to Achieving this achievement, according to the set plan and the approved timetable.
His Highness praised the efforts and professionalism of the work team, which overcame geographical challenges during digging tunnels, and achieved this achievement without any accidents, which is a qualitative addition to the exceptional record of the “Etihad Train” project in terms of safety to write an important success story in the implementation of one of the largest infrastructure projects. Excavation of the nine tunnels was achieved by recording one million man-hours, under the supervision and implementation of more than 600 experts, specialists and workers, in addition to using the latest tunnel boring machines. The excavation was carried out using the best modern techniques.
In this context, Etihad Rail was keen to take a series of precautionary and preventive measures, coordinate with environmental authorities, municipalities and traffic, and use innovative mechanisms and equipment to effectively overcome all challenges.

His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, issued Emiri Decree No. 4 of 2021 establishing the Fujairah Government Excellence Program, with the aim of improving the level of government performance in the Emirate of Fujairah and keeping pace with international standards of excellence. The program aims to enable the government sector in the Emirate of Fujairah to excel in performance and services, discover and develop human energies, support the policy of excellence and creativity in the work of local government institutions and create competition among them within international standards of excellence, in addition to establishing and supporting the strategic partnership between local departments and the private sector regionally and globally.
The Fujairah Government Excellence Program includes three main branches: the Excellence Award Program, the Leadership Development Program, and the Excellence and Institutional Creativity Support Program. The Excellence Award Program sets the foundations and criteria for excellence in government performance, evaluates and arbitrates the award, and provides the necessary professional support. The Leadership Development Program is entrusted with the tasks of setting up a system for discovering administrative leaders and attracting and developing human resources, while the Program for Supporting Excellence and Institutional Creativity is responsible for studying the development needs of the departments, providing technical and professional support to them, disseminating development practices and exchanging experiences between the concerned parties.
