On the weekend of May 6-8, the famous Pau city track hosts the opening appointment, which will see the manufacturer of Opera at the start with the Giulia ETCR and a quartet of high-caliber drivers.
The confirmed Luca Filippi was joined by Maxime Martin, Bruno Spengler and Giovanni Venturini, who will bring their talent and experience gained in high-level competitive contexts.
In 2021, Romeo Ferraris finished in second place in the standings, with the victory in the Copenhagen stage, showing its skills in the presence of opponents of important automotive groups.
In addition to being extremely competitive, the Giulia ETCR is an example of a sustainable racing car: not only for its electric propulsion, but also for the use of innovative materials such as hemp fiber introduced for some components of the bodywork and interior fittings. of the car.
During the race events, the pairs of drivers who will take turns driving the two cars between one session and the next will be respectively the Filippi-Venturini, all Italian, and the Martin-Spengler one.
The weekend format is among the numerous peculiar features of the FIA ETCR, with heats over short distances in which the cars can express their maximum power (up to 500 kW, equal to 670 horsepower) without forcing the drivers to manage the autonomy of the batteries.
In Pau the activity starts on Friday with two free practice sessions, at 15:20 and 19:40, while on Saturday the action will begin with Qualifying at 8:00 and 10:55, followed in the afternoon by the Quarterfinals Finale at 4:40 pm.
On Sunday the protagonists of the FIA ETCR will battle with the Semifinals at 8:00 and 10:25, to establish the starting grid of the Super Final which at 14:15 will determine the winner, called “King of the Weekend”.
From this year, the individual phases of the event acquire greater importance by assigning a greater number of points, making the challenge even more exciting.
Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Team Principal: “We are impatient to get on track in Pau and to start the FIA ETCR 2022 season. The championship is already growing for this second edition, but we too have grown as a team, continuing the work tuning the Giulia ETCR and involving three top-level riders like Maxime, Bruno and Giovanni, who joined Luca, already part of our project “.
“Last year we were able to demonstrate our skills by winning the Copenhagen round and finishing in second place in the overall standings, exceeding expectations. Now we no longer want to surprise, but confirm ourselves at the highest level with the idea of fighting regularly for success and to collect as many points as possible at every opportunity “.
