This friday night Esther Clavero said goodbye to the WhatsApp group of socialist mayors. «I believe that the party has precipitated, and again the PP is able to wait with defendants, processed and vaccinated days and days. Months and years. Before a flu happens, three days up, three days down, we make decisions without measure, about people who have won elections, “said the mayor of Molina de Segura to the other councilors.
After noting that “I am at peace and calm” and that “I have always done what I have considered the most honest”, he allowed himself to ask them to continue “fighting, but out of vocation. Citizens always first. Then everything else. Clavero did not clarify whether he was saying goodbye for having been removed from membership in the PSOE or because he plans to leave office.
After learning this Wednesday that the first mayor received a dose of the coronavirus vaccine outside the protocol, Clavero unleashed a political storm that was far from abating after being suspended from membership. His refusal to leave office, something that the PSRM secretary general, Diego Conesa, did not ask him, was again put into question when the party’s national leadership issued a statement on Friday in which it communicated its decision to demand the resignation of their senior officials who have breached the vaccination protocol.
To this situation, already complicated, is added the ultimatum of Podemos to Conesa, whose government pact allowed Clavero to reach the mayor’s office, to propose another socialist councilor for Molina. The purple formation recalled that its agreement “was signed in June with the PSOE, not with Mrs. Clavero.” For its part, the PP charged hard against Conesa and offered the support of its councilors to replace Clavero because “it cannot continue another minute clinging to the position at the head of the City Council”, since “it has stained the name of Molina de Segura ».
