The candidate for the government of São Paulo Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) once again stated that he repudiates attacks on women. The candidate cited, once again, the act of his co-religionist, Douglas Garcia, who attacked journalist Vera Magalhães backstage at the last debate.
“I repudiate any attack on women, I vehemently repudiate what happened in the TV Cultura debate,” said the former Minister of Infrastructure during a debate this evening. Tarcísio also committed to creating a “living” government platform for women, starting with the creation of a dedicated secretariat for women.
Tarcísio took advantage of the question about women to attack the current administration of São Paulo with regard to public policies aimed at health and education, for example. “Respect for women goes beyond and includes respect for children, too,” she said, mentioning that “22% of schools were without teachers.”
