Espargarò's future in MotoGP
Also for Aleix Espargarò it's time to experience the emotions of your own home Grand Prix Spainin Jerez de la Frontera, but for the pilot of theAprilia there are also issues that don't just concern the track for this weekend, with related expectations. In fact, the 34-year-old has not ruled out his hypothesis linked to his own withdrawal from competitionsalso taken into consideration due to the expiry of the contract expected at the end of the year: “The next four races in Jerez, Le Mans, Mugello and Barcelona, which are legendary, will be quiet in this sense – commented – I'm in no hurry, and I think Massimo Rivola said that Aprilia would be the last to decide. I want to enjoy the four best races of the championship, and they will be the results to give you the strength to decide“.
Nothing is excluded
Statements that therefore cast doubt on his permanence in Aprilia, with related rumors about the riders who could take his place next season: “It's normal and it's good for Aprilia that many riders want to come to us – he continued – four years ago nobody wanted my bike, right? Maybe I implied that it was my last year, but I'm calm. If I want to stay in Aprilia I will stay, you can rest assured. I let it be understood because the feeling I have is… don't be too convinced. I am a person without filters: I could have remained silent, but I said what I think. I don't know if I will continue, and it is normal that the other riders and Aprilia are moving. I can't wait for October to arrive because it's an official bike, one of the best, and I don't know if it will be me or another rider.”
No thoughts about 2025
Doubts about Espargarò's stay in 2025 have increased even after further declarations about the next season and the Spanish driver's intentions, excluding another sport: “I'm in such a happy place in my life that I don't give a damn about next year. I want to enjoy my family, what I have achieved and what I have. I have one of the best bikes in the world, the one I've always dreamed of, and I want to enjoy the present. For sure the cycling is absolutely excluded. My brother Pol, after his injury, wanted to continue racing even though he wasn't physically well, and I could see it. Now I see him so happy that we don't know to what extent the scales tip to one side or the other. That's why I'm going to take my time and enjoy the day by day.”
Optimism for Jerez
Finally, limited to the upcoming weekend, Espargarò indicated good expectations: “It's a circuit where the bike goes well and I go fast, so I can't wait. I think yesIt's going to be a good weekend – he concluded – we have improved a lot, so I hope not to lose too many positions. In the last two races the starts were good, so it will be important to qualify well, but we improved there.”
