As part of the demonstration, several participants were arrested, some of them very violently.
Fridays for Future pioneer Thunberg had also taken part in pro-Palestinian demonstrations in the past. In a speech in Leipzig, she accused Israel of genocide and called for a boycott of the country. The conflict is also dividing within the climate movement. The situation in Kreuzberg eased around 9 p.m., but an hour later there were riots in the Neukölln district a few kilometers away.
Four people have been temporarily arrested in the process. A total of 84 people were screened. According to the police, around 50 people in Neukölln built barricades and set tires on fire.
