Erfurt – Three men from Guinea have been victims of a racist attack in Erfurt. Two of the men were injured, one of them seriously, the police said. Accordingly, the condition of the seriously injured was at times “critical”.
The three men were initially verbally and then assaulted by ten to twelve Germans at a known meeting point of the right-wing scene in a prefabricated area in the southeast of Erfurt.
The police spoke of a “xenophobic attack”. Twelve alleged perpetrators were provisionally arrested and detained.
It is not yet known whether weapons or other objects were used in the attack. The attack was committed around 3.05 a.m. The attackers were said to be in front of the right scene. The State Criminal Police Office had been involved in the investigation. The police asked witnesses to report.
In Thuringian security circles it is assumed that in the scene before the attack, members or sympathizers of the right-wing extremist micro-party The III. Stop way. The police did not comment on this.
The member of parliament of the left, Katharina König-Preuss, spoke of an increased activity by neo-Nazis.
