With the arrival on mobile, Epic Game Store will start offering soon free games also for iOS and Android devicesin line with what has already been happening for years with the PC version of the Epic Games store, which offers at least one new title a week to all users without restrictions of any kind.
General manager Steve Allison confirmed this in an interview with mobilegamer.biz, in which he revealed that the first free games for mobile they will arrive during the fourth quarter of the yearso probably within a very few weeks.
The first third-party apps are arriving
“The free games program will launch in the fourth quarter, along with the first third-party apps, and we will have some great things for players that will also be great for developers, because they will help us grow very quickly,” Allison said.
The general manager of the Epic Game Store expected “between 10 and 50 third-party apps” on mobile during the Christmas period, among which Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition is already confirmed. The biggest obstacle for Allison is represented by the “implementation of a payment system, which could postpone some of these applications to the following months”.
Not only that, to attract developers on mobile, strategies similar to those of the Epic Game Store for PC will be applied, such as royalties of only 12% on sales and in-app purchases (compared to 30% for the App Store and Google Play Store) and the possibility of resetting them for six months by publishing an app as a temporary exclusive.
