The Epic Games Store will launch on iOS devices in the UK in the second half of 2025. Epic Games itself revealed the news. The news comes after the UK government passed the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Bill, designed to “ensure fairer competition in the technology sector” and increase consumer protection. Includes the possibility of “addressing anti-competitive behavior” and “broad power in the hands of a small number of technology companies” designating them with the status of strategic market.
AND comparable to the Digital Markets Act of the European Union, also designed to regulate big tech companies and create “fairer” business practices. The DMA itself has allowed the launch of alternative stores to the App Store on iOS, with other payment systems. Apple is currently under investigation by the European Commission for failure to comply with the new rules.
