A possible screenshot of Epic Games Store told us what it will look like trophies, structure a levels, and profiles. The sales service of games in digital format has effectively become a kind of platform in its own right. All that was missing was that details like each trophy / profile and profile picture were better defined.
We now have a rough idea of the new interface, thanks to this screenshot shared in a discussion of ResetEra. The community reaction to this juicy anticipation has been largely positive, due to a hybrid approach to player rewards seen on Sony and Microsoft consoles.
In mentioning the levels, in fact, we used the terms trophies and achievements for the Epic Games Store almost interchangeably. It’s not a casuality. Officially the name is always that of “lenses”, but on a stylistic level there is also a considerable influence on the part of Sony. Nonetheless, the tiered structure echoes the ideas of Microsoft.
The speculative debate on the forum of ResetEra has turned on the possible evolutions of the concept, if properly reinterpreted by Epic Games. In general, though, it is the potential hybrid approach that has redeemed most of the acclaim, including the apparent presence of the coveted platinum trophies.
We also note the presence of experience points to level up, along with profile pictures taken from Epic’s IPs. The idea of seeing the characters of Fortnite used as profile photos fit this new scenario perfectly, as well as third-party properties like Psycho from Borderlands by Gearbox.
The Epic Games marketplace provides us with topics of conversation on a weekly basis, thanks to the free games that are cycled every seven days. We do not doubt that, not unlike the program Microsoft Rewards, in the future it is possible a synergy between free titles and unlocked achievements.
