They protest against the agri-food model that “is directly responsible for the climate emergency”
Four environmental activists have attacked Cortylandia, the traditional animatronic children’s park of El Corte Inglés located on Calle Preciados, in the center of Madrid, with red and black paint, and which thousands of people visit every day at Christmas. The members of the Futuro Vegetal collective, who have used modified fire extinguishers for the attack, have affirmed that this action is a protest against the agri-food model that “is directly responsible for the current climate emergency,” they affirm from the movement.
Futuro Vegetal, as explained in a statement, demands that the government end subsidies to the livestock industry and use that money for a transition to a plant-based agri-food system that is socially and ecologically responsible.
The group has pointed out that “companies like El Corte Inglés whitewash the reality of the Climate Crisis and promote a consumption system based on an unsustainable production model.”
