Iceland’s Tourism Authority has launched a new initiative to spend an enjoyable vacation while others respond to your emails.
It has become possible for those who want to spend their vacation away from the worries and concerns of work and without being engrossed in e-mail, to use the horses that take, without charge, the kicks of their hooves to write automatic responses, thanks to a service provided by the Icelandic Tourism Office.
The office released a strange promotional video explaining the secret of this service, in which a giant keyboard appears enthusiastically trampled by horses of the famous Icelandic breed, amidst the picturesque landscape of the island.
Of course, the writing talents of horses produce responses that are completely contrary to the rules of professional ethics to the emails received by the person concerned, as these responses are limited to absurd, incomprehensible texts such as JJJJJJJJJ or 8io:l:;l:oiip::.
However, so far, eight thousand people have subscribed to this service called “Outhorse your e-mail”, which is a modification of the verb “Outsource” in English, which means “assign a subcontractor to handle your e-mail.”
“Iceland launched OutHorse Your Email to help travelers disconnect from it all and focus on enjoying all that Iceland has to offer, without disturbing anything,” said Sigrior Doug Gumundsdottir, President of Visit Iceland.
Young Icelandic horses, sometimes confused with ponies, are a symbol of Iceland.
In the video, which has garnered more than 130,000 views since it was posted online, a tourist, played by an actress, is annoyed by receiving dozens of emails while on vacation in picturesque Iceland.
The Tourism Authority was based on a survey it conducted showing that 55 percent of people surveyed check their emails at least once a day during their holidays.
