Olkiluoton there is a malfunction in the triple unit of the nuclear power plant. The disturbance is reported by the electricity exchange Nord Pool on the pages.
Teollisuuden Voima’s (TVO) communications manager Johanna Aho confirm the matter to HS. According to him, due to the disturbance, Olkiluoto 3 currently produces 960 megawatts of electricity.
“We are currently figuring out how to get increased power.”
According to the current estimate, it will take two hours to fix the problem. The nominal power of Olkiluoto 3 is 1,600 megawatts.
“In practice, however, 1,590 megawatts is full power at the moment, if there are no disturbances,” says Aho.
September in the beginning, a fault in the turbine plant was found in the second unit of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant.
Teollisuuden Voima, on the other hand, announced last week that the second unit of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant is to be returned to electricity production on October 6, i.e. Sunday.
At the same time, however, TVO toldthat the second unit produces electricity for several months at low power after it starts up.
Electric has been expensive during Wednesday and Thursday. The price has been increased by the turbine failure of Olkiluoto’s second unit, the annual maintenance of Loviisa nuclear power plant’s first unit, and low wind power production.
Fortum said on Monday that the annual maintenance of unit one of the Loviisa power plant will take a day longer than estimated. The service should be completed on Saturday.
Olkiluoto’s second unit produced just under 9 percent of the electricity consumed in Finland last year. The number one unit of the Loviisa power plant, on the other hand, produced about 10 percent of the electricity consumed in Finland last year.
On Friday, stock exchange electricity will be cheaper. The daily average price, including VAT, drops to around 9.6 cents per kilowatt hour.
