Helsinki sports venue manager Petteri Huurre says that according to the current forecast, half a million euros more will be spent on heating the city’s sports facilities this year than before. In addition to swimming pools, the assessment also covers other sports venues in the city, such as gymnasiums and inland swimming pools.

Heating rapidly rising costs force you to think about all kinds of solutions, but according to Huurte, reducing the temperature of the swimming water is not the first thing on the list.

“Yes, we will certainly have to make some kind of cost-saving measures. In the case of swimming pools, at least the use of saunas has been considered.”
