The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is overseeing the implementation of a bridge project on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street in the Al Tallah area in the Emirate of Ajman, which is expected to be completed and delivered on December 17, 2023.
And the ministry stated in its response to a question for “Emirates Today” that the project was handed over to the contractor on June 20, explaining that the project implementation period is divided into 30 preparation days and 515 implementation days, so that the initial delivery will be on December 17, 2023.
The ministry pointed out that the project aims to develop the current intersection of the “Umm Fannin” area located on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, due to severe traffic congestion through the implementation of a free intersection that preserves the main destinations served by the existing “Umm Fannin” tunnel, with a capacity of up to 3816 vehicles/hour in both directions.
The ministry stated that the scope of the project includes the implementation of a three-lane bridge from “Intersection 3” in the Emirate of Sharjah to the Al-Tilla and Al Nuaimia areas in the Emirate of Ajman, the implementation of a two-lane bridge from the Al Nuaimiya area in Ajman to “Intersection 3” and Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi Street in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the development of The existing “Umm Faneen” tunnel for traffic coming from Al Rahmaniya area in the Emirate of Sharjah to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street in the direction of “Intersection 3” and Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi Street in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the implementation of a new shallow roundabout.
The ministry confirmed that the project to add a bridge on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street in the Al Tallah area in the Emirate of Ajman is the first project in the application of the road sustainability guide, which was developed by the ministry, which contributes to raising energy efficiency, encourages sustainable waste management, and reduces waste. emitting greenhouse gases, and the project will be more resilient in the face of climate change risks and enhance the quality of road users.
The Ministry is keen to develop and improve the road network that extends in all the Emirates, to meet the needs of population and urban expansion and spread, and to accommodate the growing increase in traffic, as well as improving transportation and facilitating traffic, stressing the application of international best practices by relying on the system of innovation, sustainability, and intelligence. Artificial Intelligence, in addition to its cooperation with its partners in preserving the state’s gains in infrastructure.
