The deadline on end of engines thermal burst, petrol and diesel in Europe was charted by the European Commission than with the package Fit for 55 indicated the date: it will be the 2035 the year in which no more cars will be sold a petrol, diesel, lpg, methane and hybrids.
This fateful date is still missing 14 years but many car manufacturers have decided to anticipate it also because with such a short deadline it no longer makes sense to invest in thermal and with the resources, always scarce due to the automotive crisis, which are all invested in rush to the electric.

Alfa Romeo
The Biscione synonymous with sportsmanship it too converts to electric, with the first battery-powered Alfa is coming in 2023. From 2026 instead there will be no more Alfa Romeo thermal cars.
Alpine
The electric sports brand from 2024 it will be electric only.
Audi
From 2026, Audi will present on the world market only new electrified models (electric and hybrid cars). While up to 2033 there will be a phasing out of the production of combustion engines. So the fateful date is 2033.
BMW
In 2023 there will be at least one electric alternative on the market for every BMW model, which aims to see only electric cars by 2030.
Citroën and DS
Citroën aims to electrify the entire range while DS from 2024 will be on the market only with 100% electric models.
Dacia
The Renault Group, of which Dacia belongs, aims to ask for a referral to 2040 of the stop of the thermal engines, focusing a lot on the hybrid. From 2026 however, new Dacia electric models should arrive.
Daimler (Mercedes and smart)
Electric cars will be available in all segments as early as 2022, while another 10 electric models are expected to arrive. The Star brand aims to become fully electric from 2030. The Smart EQ, on the other hand, has already been fully electric for a few years.
Ferrari
There Maranello’s first electric car should arrive in 2025 while there are still no official indications for future plans.
Fiat and Abarth
Thanks to the merger between FCA and PSA, the Italian brand can draw on a technology that will allow it to abandon the thermal system starting from 2025. From 2030, Fiat sales should only concern battery-powered models.
Ford
Ford plans to have at least one hybrid plug-in or electric variant across the range of cars sold in Europe since 2026. The farewell to the internal combustion engine for Ford is expected by 2030, but for the moment only in Europe.
Jaguar
The British luxury brand will only offer electric cars on the market from 2025.
Honda
The transition to electric for Honda is more gradual, which will be complete by 2040.
Hyundai and KIA
The Korean group expects to sell 40% of Kia electrified vehicles by 2030. While from 2035 the Hyundai range will consist only of electric cars or ad hydrogen.
Land Rover
Since 2026, the British brand has abandoned diesel. By 2030 60% of the range will be electric and 40% hybrid.
Jeep
The American 4 × 4 brand is currently betting everything on plug-in hybrid and 4xe technology.
Launch
The Italian brand Stellantis will be electric starting from 2024, while in 2026 arrives the new Delta with only electric motor.
Lotus
The last Lotus petrol car was theEmira, the next Lotus will be electric only.
Mazda
The Japanese manufacturer’s approach is that multi-technological, which sees Mazda engaged on multiple fronts, including that of hydrogen. In any case for the 2030 aims to sell only electrified models.
Mini
The Minis will all be fully electric from 2030.
Mitsubishi
By 2030 50% of total sales will be electric models.
Nissan
50% of the Japanese range by 2025 will be electric while it will be fully electric starting from 2030.
Opel
From 2024 every Opel model will have an electric variant, while from 2028 all models will be electric only.
Peugeot
All models will have at least one 85% electric variant by 2023 and 100% by 2025.
Peugeot though has not yet set a date to finally say goodbye to the endothermic.
Porsche
Porsche is investing heavily in the research of synthetic fuels, also because the farewell to combustion engines is practically impossible for historic models such as the 911.
However, an electric motor is expected to be adopted on at least 80% of new vehicles by 2030.
Renault
The Group led by Luca de Meo points to a postponement of the European call to 2040, investing heavily in the E-Tech hybrid. By 2030 it aims to reach 90% of the electrified range.
Skoda
The Bohemian brand has not yet set a date to say goodbye to endothermic but in any case by 2035 it aims to sell at least the 70% electric cars.
Subaru
By 2035, the entire range will be electrified.
Toyota
They will only be sold electrified cars from 2022: Hybrid, Plug-in, Electric and Hydrogen Fuel Cell.
Volkswagen
The German giant is among the most committed to the transition to electric and aims to have 70% of registrations on battery by 2030.
While from 2033 to 2035 the final farewell to the combustion engine for the European market is expected.
Volvo
The Swedish company has decided to say goodbye to the thermal by 2030.
