Mexico City.- For this year, 600 thousand jobs are expected to be generated in Mexico, which marks a slowdown in hiring expectations, indicated the human capital company Manpower.
This result is due to the fact that there has been a reduction in the GDP growth forecast, said Beatriz Robles, director of operations at Manpower.
“So far this year, about 330 thousand jobs have been generated, we need 300 thousand more to be generated to reach the forecast. There has been a reduction in the GDP expectation and we close our forecast at 600 thousand. We are within the range of Banxico,” he commented.
It should be noted that the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) has a forecast of between 510 thousand to 670 thousand jobs.
Meanwhile, for the third quarter of the year, the sector that is leading the employment trend is energy because there are strong investments in clean technologies and employment linked to the construction of combined cycle.
There are also good forecasts in the logistics and automotive sector due to the expansion of plants in the north and center of the country, mainly for auto parts, he added.
Furthermore, the net employment trend is led by the northeast region – that is, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas – because investments are being recorded in electric vehicles, electronic cards, aluminum alloys, hydrocarbons, among other things.
For her part, Mónica Flores, president of ManpowerGroup Latin America, considered that beyond the presidential elections in Mexico and the United States, the factors that will lead to job creation are trust and security.
He added that changing the trend in job creation will take time; In that sense, the challenges of the next Administration of Claudia Sheinbaum will be the transition from informality to formality and creating conditions for more and more women to join the labor market.
“It is difficult to reverse the trend of this size. In the medium and long term, many things can be done, public policy to transition talent from informality to formality; have conditions that allow groups subject to employment discrimination to find work, such as women,” he stated. .
For this reason, she said, full-time schools and child care centers are important so that women can find opportunities.
