Exxon plans to spend tens of billions of dollars a year on emission reduction projects.
Oil company Exxon Mobile expanded its climate target to include individual oil barrels.
The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40-50 per cent per barrel of oil and gas by 2030 compared to 2016 levels.
The American oil company aims to reduce its total greenhouse gas emissions by 20-30 percent by 2030.
Exxon is trying to reach this goal by investing $ 20-25 billion a year in emission reduction projects until 2027.

The company the previous emissions target was a 15-20% reduction by 2025 in separately designated businesses. Now Exxon says it has reached that goal.
Exxon only calculates the company’s direct production as its own emissions. Emissions from Exxon’s customers burning fossil fuels produced by the company are excluded.
Exxon, like other oil companies, has been making profits this year due to rising oil and natural gas prices.
