The International Athletics Grand Prix 2024 Championship was concluded at the Dubai Police Officers Club, in which 250 male and female athletes from 55 countries participated, to join the ranks of the finalists for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
The closing ceremony was attended by Ghanem bin Mubarak Al-Hajri, Director General of the General Sports Authority, Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr, President of the Athletics Federation, and members of the Federation’s Board of Directors.
The competitions resulted in Emirati Emmanuel Bamidele winning first place in the men’s 400-meter race, Emirati Sulaiman Abdulrahman taking second place, Lebanese Marc Anthony winning first place in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, Greek Rafaela Spanoudaki topping the women’s 100 and 200-meter races, and Iranian Ali Amirian winning the women’s 100 and 200 meters race. Men’s 800 metres, Brunei’s Nelly Jepkosgei won the women’s 800 metres, Nigerian Sendai Akantat won the men’s 200 metres, Sweden’s Lisa Lilja won the women’s 400 metres, Emirati Abdul Karim Abdulrahman topped the men’s 1500 metres, and Italian Chituro won the men’s 100 metres.
Romanian Alina Rotro won first place in the women’s long jump, Croatian Filip Ravidka won first place for men in the same competition, Egyptian Mostafa Abdel Khaleq won first place in the men’s javelin throw competition, Turkish Tugna Danismaz won first place in the women’s triple jump, and Romanian Raris Todar won first place in throwing. Shot put for men.
Major General Dr. Muhammad Al-Murr thanked and appreciated Ghanem bin Mubarak Al-Hajri, Director General of the General Sports Authority, for attending the event, and for the General Sports Authority’s keenness to implement strategies that support sports development in the UAE, praising the efforts of the National Olympic Committee in supporting national trends to advance Emirati sports.
