180 professional cyclists from Al Ain clubs participated in the bicycle race organized by Emirates International Hospital for a distance of 23 km, in the Al Bateen area, with the aim of spreading awareness about diabetes and ways to prevent it, coinciding with the UAE’s celebrations of the fiftieth National Day, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Club. Cycling, in the presence of Sheikh Dr. Salem Mohammed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, a former Federal National Council member and Chairman of the Emirates Cancer Society, Dr. Aaron Menon, CEO of Emirates International Hospital in Al Ain and hospital management, a number of sports club representatives, and the participation of many community organizations and cycling enthusiasts of citizens and residents.
Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Rakkad said: The race is an expression of solidarity with diabetic patients, and aims to deliver an awareness message through sports activities to prevent diseases associated with a lack of physical activity.
He praised the UAE’s position thanks to the wise leadership’s directives in achieving the best high quality in health care, applying the highest international standards in health system services, the adequacy of the medical staff, and working to consolidate the preventive aspect by reducing the rate of cancer and other diseases such as diabetes and heart.

Aaron Menon: The Emirates International Hospital is doing its duty to create awareness in the community to prevent or delay the emergence of lifestyle-related diseases, and the initiative to organize a bicycle race in Al Ain is to encourage and educate people about the importance of living a healthy life.
At the end of the race, Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Rakkad and Dr. Aaron Menon crowned the winners and distributed medals, in addition to honoring the sponsors.
