The Emirates Food Bank of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation announced the distribution of nearly one and a half million meals to those who are eligible during the first ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan, as part of its initiatives that it launched in conjunction with the holy month, with the aim of managing surplus food and reducing its waste, and delivering Food to the largest number of those in need inside and outside the UAE, in addition to raising community awareness to reach zero food waste.
These initiatives embody the values of humanity, goodness and giving in the UAE, and its vision to achieve sustainability in all fields, as the Emirates Food Bank seeks through its activities and initiatives to spread and consolidate these values globally, through its vision and mission, which contributes to strengthening the values of brotherhood and doing good in society.
The Emirates Food Bank targets from its initiatives; Providing three million meals from donations, and delivering them to those who are eligible in Ramadan, as meals are distributed on a daily basis through Ramadan Iftar tents, in addition to cooperation with food companies, kitchens, restaurants and hotels.
The bank also aims to raise awareness of the importance of reducing surplus food and distributing it optimally, and contributing to the fight against global hunger, by delivering food with high quality, and reducing its waste through integrated management of surplus food at all stages of collection and distribution.
The bank had also launched the “Hareescom On Us” initiative, which aims to encourage major kitchens to allocate daily meals from the “harees” dish, one of the traditional Emirati dishes, and distribute them to the iftar tents and the beneficiaries.
