The Emirates Copyright Management Association concluded its participation in the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair for the second year in a row with an independent pavilion through which it succeeded in disseminating knowledge among members of the public about the importance of copyright and protecting the rights of literary works, and communicating with rights holders, including writers and publishers, to attract more memberships and authorizations. In addition to signing partnership agreements with some relevant institutions.
The association’s program of activities at the exhibition included presenting an educational workshop entitled “The Concept of Copyright and Digital Solutions,” in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Knowledge Foundation, during which Mohammed Al Matrooshi, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, and Majd Al Shehhi, Director of the Association, provided an explanation to writers and publishers about the concept of copyright. and collective management of rights.
The workshop also touched on the role of the Emirates Copyright Management Association in preserving the rights of writers and publishers and supporting creativity, as well as discussing the digital solutions it presents in the era of modern technology, following the example of the global experience of preserving rights through collective management.
The association’s participation in the exhibition resulted in the signing of a cooperation agreement with the Trend Research Center, which aims mainly to cooperate in the field of data exchange, especially those related to universities and libraries in the United Arab Emirates, and in the field of organizing joint workshops and sessions. In addition, the association met with a delegation from the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Publishers Union, headed by Professor Farid Zahran. With the aim of exchanging experiences in the field of protecting intellectual property rights, and studying the possibility of signing future agreements between the two parties.

Majd Al Shehhi indicated the association’s keenness to participate in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair as one of the leading cultural events in the Arab world, and it constitutes an ideal platform for communicating with writers, publishers and institutions concerned with cultural affairs at the state level, disseminating knowledge about copyright and encouraging the proper legal use of published content. In addition to introducing the services that the association provides to owners of creative rights in this field, as it is the only center for collective management of copyrights in the Emirates.
She added: “We consider ourselves partners to writers and authors in their creative journey by providing support and protection for their works, and providing everything to ensure that they receive the returns they deserve for their copies. Therefore, we seize the opportunity to participate in major cultural events, such as this exhibition, to communicate our voice to the largest possible segment of them and motivate them to benefit from our services, in addition to spreading awareness among members of society about the importance of respecting copyright and appreciating the efforts of creators.”
