Elton John has given sad news at the musical’s charity gala ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (for which he wrote the music) held last Sunday night to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, revealing that he is physically unable to see the show due to his vision problems. «I want to thank my husband for having been my rock in the bad times, when I have not been able to come to many of the previews… because, As you know, I have lost my sight.. So it’s hard for me to see it. But I love hearing it and boy did it sound good tonight. “Thank you for coming!” he said amid a veiled murmur of perplexity in the audience.
Although he is already retired from the stage after his farewell tour, Elton John continues working composing and recordingand in fact he is preparing a new album with his inseparable lyricist and friend Bernie Taupin. But a week ago he declared on the ‘Good Morning America’ program that his problems were delaying the entire process. «Unfortunately I lost sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France and I haven’t been able to see for four months now, and my left eye is not the best,” he said. «So there is hope and encouragement that it will turn out well, but… I am a little stuck right now, because I can do something like this [la entrevista]but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know, because to begin with I can’t see a letter».

After his latest health problems, the British musician, who was diagnosed diabetes type 2 in the early 2000s, has completely changed his lifestyle and admits that he now even watches what he eats, and revealed that it had been “a long time” since he had a sweet: “I can eat an apple or a little bit of melon . As long as you’re sensible, your blood sugar won’t go up. But what I want is chocolate and ice cream, I can’t eat ice cream». Speaking on Lady Ruth Rogers’ ‘Ruthie’s Table 4’ podcast, she added: “If I ate a killer meal, it wouldn’t contain anything except sweets, because I can’t eat them now. “So I would have ice cream, donuts, apple pie, rhubarb crumble.”
