After the completion of the “gigafactory” in Gruenheide, Germany, in October this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk plans to build a similar project in the UK, according to the newspaper Express.
The statements were made on the sidelines of a site visit to interrogate state leaders and executives of the company building the factory.

It is worth remembering that the American company postponed the opening of the “gigafactory” until the end of 2021, a delay that is allegedly related to bureaucracies on the part of the German state, in addition to other obstacles regarding environmental concerns. As the German environmental agency has not yet given the final approval of the project, a further postponement of the opening, which could extend until 2022, is on the table.
British Business Secretary Kwadi Kwarteng said the UK could benefit from this delay, with Musk starting to show “interest” in building the “gigafactory” on British soil.
Apparently, Musk chose Germany for the company’s third-largest construction plant because he wanted to capitalize on the engineering and manufacturing expertise that allowed Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW to dominate the global luxury passenger car market.
